ABOUT BACH SOCIETY HOUSTON

The Bach Society Houston celebrates its thirtieth anniversary with the 2011-2012 Season and has become what the Houston Chronicle calls “…the city’s major celebrant of Bach’s glorious legacy.” Its professional, historically-informed performances of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and many other composers are enjoyed by a diverse and enthusiastic audience, with venues often filled to capacity—an affirmation of the universality of Bach’s music and of the Society’s commitment to artistic excellence. Performers include the Bach Choir Houston, the Society’s resident sixteen-voice professional ensemble; Mercury Baroque, Houston's period-instrument orchestra; and an international roster of vocal and instrumental soloists, organists, and guest conductors.
